StudioKees is responsible for the final engineering and production documentation of the AVL koker chair. We are especially proud of the invisible fastening of the backrest to the frame while keeping the backrest detachable; aesthetics and function combined. The AVL Koker was part of the 12,5 jubilee exhibition of AVL and Lensvelt in Lambrate during the Salone del Mobile 2012 in Milan, accompanied by a rather blue canon…and the best army soup in town!

The Bamboo is a decorative and functional coat rack that also can be used as an unique room divider. The plastic leafs can easily be adjusted in height and orientation by just moving it in the preferred position, this is possible because of a simple though smart solution. By using a standard o-ring it was possible to reach enough friction between leaf and stand once a coat is suspended. Without a load the friction is much lower so the leafs easily can be moved. The Bamboo is designed by Peter van de Water for Cascando. Studiokees developed, together with Peter van de Water, the smart plastic leaf construction, from concept to CAD documentation. The Bamboo comes in different configurations; from a singe stand or 3 stands in-one to wall mounted versions, choose what fits your situation best.

StoreFlux is a range of recessed LED fixtures based on an existing Philips high-power LED engine. A luminaire for retail and hospitality that subsitutes the CDM gridlight spots with a more energy-efficient solution.

Kees designed and developed this range of products in close collaboration with Philips Lighting. The project resulted in a clean and minimalistic design. We integrated the functional requirements in a design without showing a single technical detail when the product is installed. A smart clicker solution facilitates easy installation and maintenance.

Perhaps perfectly in tune with the excesses of Louis XV’s reign. The Rockcoco is not just frivolous and merely modish, it is the first outdoor proof chandelier ever made! You could hang Rockcoco outside in a tree for a historical dinner till late at night. Or let it be the crown above your swimming pool or bathtub.

For Fatboy© and in collaboration with DeMakersVan, Kees developed the ‘RockCoco’, an outdoor chandelier illuminated by LED. The challenge was to create a product suitable for outdoor-use which is assembled by the end user, while maintaining the unique design.

Like the name suggests, Kees is a real Dutch, down to earth, cheese loving guy. That’s why Kees flourishes underneath the Dutch skies in the port of Rotterdam. In the old fruit harbour, Kees set out to be inspired by the craft and the mindset of the workers where Rotterdam is known for.

Kees enjoys to collaborate with creative/innovative entrepreneurs. Big or small, all it takes is a good idea. Because Kees loves good ideas and specializes in the realization. We deliver professional quality at a realistic rate.

Since April 2009, Kees repeatedly morphed product ideas into fruitful technical and smart solutions that blow your mind.. while having fun in the process.

Kees is committed to make your product work with preservation of design and concept. The aim is to develop the design in such a way that it’s commercially feasible in series (mostly mass).

Kees treats each product idea as a unique project with a structured process and with full attention. By asking smart (and dumb) questions we are able to build bridges: integrate different expertises and specialism in a project.

Share your ideas!

An outside lamp drawn from our home surroundings. With every breeze it
stores energy, enough to enjoy every summer evening until
forever.
Contemporary vs traditional, art vs functionality.
It is a self supporting light source that marks the landscape.

For the Dutch Design House DeMakersVan we developed the LightWind, from design sketch to a first serie of 10 products. The challenge was to make the LightWind energy autonomous while maintaining the design concept with its unique aesthetics. Behind its clean design a rather complex megatronical product is hidden.
